After School Enrichment and Activity Bus Information

The PTA provides an after school enrichment program with classes in art, choir, gymnastics, Minecraft, language, writing, and many more. Classes start after school at end by 4:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, classes end by 3:00 pm. Students may choose to take the Activity Bus after their enrichment classes. The Activity Bus loads at 4:00 pm (3:00 pm Wednesdays). Students must register for the Activity Bus each session.

The After School Enrichment program has three sessions - Fall, Winter and Spring. The Fall Session runs Wednesday, October 9th through Friday, December 20th. The winter and spring sessions follow without any breaks. No enrichment classes are held when school is not in session.

The Activity Bus is available for Launch students to ride. The Activity Bus service starts on Wednesday, September 11th for Launch students.

Registration for the after school classes and the Activity Bus is in 6crickets. Montlake's 6crickets portal shows the class schedule and registration is enabled starting Wednesday, September 11th at noon.

Students who would like a scholarship, please email Ms. Ella erares@seattleschools.org to obtain the code to use during registration checkout.

Registration for the Fall 2024 session will be open Wednesday, September 11th - Wednesday, September 18th.

• Students must register to ride the Activity Bus each session. So, if your student is registered to ride the Activity Bus in the fall session, you will need to register them again for them to continue to ride it in the winter and spring sessions.

• Note: The schedule for the choir classes (for grades 3 - 5) has changed from last year. Choir classes are now held on Thursdays and Fridays. Note that Mr. Mattson must approve those who register for Cloud City Choir. For students who are enrolled only in Montlake Choir, their class is done at 3:15 pm. These students can be picked up at 3:15 pm or they can enroll in the Creativity Club to stay until 4:00 pm to take the Activity Bus.

The Activity Bus

• The Activity Bus is provided by SPS at no cost to the PTA or to families. There is a fee to register for a seat on the bus. This fee will pay for staff to supervise waiting students, load students onto the bus, and to remain with students if the bus is late.

• Students must enroll to ride the Activity Bus each session.

• The Activity Bus is scheduled to arrive at John Marshall by 4:00 pm and depart at 4:15 pm (3:00 pm and 3:15 pm on Wednesdays).

  • The Activity Bus route has changed slightly from last year. The bus stops at E Lynn St at 19th Ave E instead of on E McGraw St. All Montlake buses are avoiding the streets by school because of construction. The Activity Bus has a route of the following stops:

 Greenlake School-Age Child Care (GLSA)

25TH AVE E @ E LOUISA ST (NE corner of Montlake)

E LYNN ST @ 19TH AVE E (changed from last year)

E EDGAR ST @ 11TH AVE E (near Roanoke Park)

10TH AVE E @ E MILLER ST (near D' La Santa)

E LOUISA ST @ FRANKLIN AVE E (near TOPS)

• Students will be assigned a stop according to their home address. Please email enrichment@montlakepta.org if you would like to request a different stop. Please note that the Activity Bus route will go to stops at childcare sites and stops in the neighborhood zone for Montlake. If your student lives outside of the neighborhood zone and has an IEP for transportation, please email enrichment@montlakepta.org before registering for the Activity Bus. We will need to arrange a stop for your student

• During registration, you will be required to provide your student's ID number and regular bus route number in your student's 6crickets profile. (Log in to The Source to obtain your student's ID number.) This is important information that we need to have in case your student needs to ride the bus with a yellow card. Please complete this information accurately. Only parents/guardians can enter information and edit their student's 6crickets profile.

• The PTA will subsidize the actual costs for paying for staff to run the program and to supervise students while waiting for the Activity Bus. If you are able to donate any amount of money during check out, it will help the PTA run a sustainable program.

Students in Launch

• Launch students may register for after school classes and the Activity Bus. It is possible for Launch students to register for only the Activity Bus.

• Launch students attending enrichment classes will be returned to Launch after class. Launch will load students onto the Activity Bus.

After School Enrichment Classes Procedures

• Students will meet their instructors in the gym at school dismissal time. The instructors will take attendance while in the gym to try to ensure that all students are where they should be.

• Hampton Tutors will be providing an onsite coordinator. The onsite coordinator will help facilitate any changes to student pick-up plans. The onsite coordinator will also help support students who need extra breaks during class and will help resolve any behavioral issues.

• A behavior plan will be emailed to all parents and guardians of registered students. This plan reminds students that the same school rules apply after school and that participation in the after school classes is a privilege. All students and parents will need to read and follow this plan.

• We rely on parents to communicate changes to schedules and pick-up plans in a timely manner to enrichcoordinator@montlakepta.org.
