Islandwood is an exciting outdoor learning program that offers our 5th graders a unique chance to explore nature, build friendships, and learn outside the classroom. It's estimated cost is $15,880 or roughly $500/per student dependening on final numbers.
To help fund this valuable experience and reduce the cost of attendance for everyone, our community has created a few events:
Parent Night Out : March 20th
Walk-A-Thon : April 4th
Bake Sale @ the Arboretum : TBD date (but you can hold one, too!)
Direct donations for friends, family, and neighbors
[Feb 3] MioPosto dine out : thank you for participating! We raised $1,050 and offset roughly $40 from each student ticket cost.
Parent Night Out on March 20th
Parent Night Out is a special evening where our 5th graders take the lead by hosting younger students for a night filled with fun activities. This year, the event will be held at Montlake Elementary on Friday, March 20th. It’s a great chance for kids to enjoy a movie, eat pizza, and participate in games while parents and siblings supervise to keep everything safe and smooth.
What Happens at Parent Night Out?
Movie Time: A popular children’s movie will be shown to keep everyone entertained.
Pizza Party: Kids will enjoy pizza, making the night feel like a real celebration.
Fun Activities: There will be games and crafts organized by the 5th graders.
Supervision: Fifth-grade parents and siblings will be on hand to watch over the event.
How to Get Involved
Sign Up Your Child: To help us plan, please register your student to attend Parent Night Out.
Volunteer: Parents and older siblings can volunteer to supervise and assist with activities. This is also a great way for older kids to earn volunteer hours.

Walk-A-Thon on April 4th
The Walk-A-Thon is a lively event where students gather pledges and walk together to raise funds. It will take place on Saturday, April 4th at the Montlake Playfield track. This event encourages physical activity, school spirit, and community support.
What to Expect at the Walk-A-Thon
Pledges: Students ask family and friends to sponsor their walking efforts.
Spiritwear: Everyone is encouraged to wear school colors or spiritwear to show pride.
Snacks: Healthy snacks will be available to keep energy levels up.
Community Fun: The event is a chance for families to come together and cheer on the kids.

All money raised will be shared equally among the 5th graders and help cover the cost of the Islandwood trip.
Bake Sale
An easy than pie way to raise money and get your kid involved is to host a bake sale. Create a group, host your own, or join our planned Arboretum sale - sometime at the end of March when the Azaleas are in bloom! Email communications@montlakepta.org if you want to join the Bake squad.
If you hose your own, feel free to use this link for direct payments.
How You Can Help Beyond Attending
Volunteer for Event Planning: If you have time to help organize or assist during the events, your support is invaluable. Please email president@montlakepta.org if you are interested.
Spread the Word: Share information about Parent Night Out and the Walk-A-Thon with friends and neighbors.
Encourage Your Child: Help your 5th grader think of creative ways to raise funds independently.
Your involvement, big or small, makes a difference in creating a successful fundraising season. Thank you!
